Project Description
Piknik re-designed Blok Maçka Restaurant & Bar in response to the client’s evolving needs and strategies. Originally known for its iconic bites and cocktails, the space was transformed into a bi-functional venue—a restaurant by day and a stage by night. This dual character opened up opportunities for powerful spatial storytelling and a dynamic atmosphere that adapts to different types of visitors.
This project also presented a unique challenge for Piknik, as it marked the first time the studio re-designed one of their own previous projects. The renewed Blok needed to accommodate a larger audience during performances, requiring a rethinking of the seating configuration. Piknik addressed this by embedding the space’s bi-functional identity into the floor design through graphic elements. These graphics not only guide the daily re-arrangement of seating but also subtly communicate the shifting function of the space throughout the day to its users.
