Project Description
Piknik Works has been commissioned to create 5 unique visual artworks for the newly opened Karaköy Güllüoğlu Baklava Restaurant in Istanbul. The artworks are designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and unique flavors of baklava while giving references to the journey of the renowned Karaköy Güllüoğlu Brand's journey towards the 20th century and identity. The artworks range from re-designing an old miniature painting to preparing of 8-meter Karaköy City Silouhette drawing with embedded stories and Preparing a Baklava Table with drawings of baklavas in a style of the periodic table layout.
The first artwork is a modern interpretation of an old miniature painting. The painting is redesigned with contemporary techniques and elements, creating a striking blend of traditional and modern art. The artwork captures fictive scenes portraying the developing and making of baklava in Ottoman kitchens. 8-Meter Karaköy City Silhouette Drawing: The second artwork is a massive 10-meter drawing that depicts the cityscape of Karaköy. The drawing includes intricate details of the city's landmarks, such as the Galata Tower, the Karaköy Port, and the historic structures. The artwork is also embedded with stories, showcasing the rich history and cultural significance of the brand and city. The third artwork is a unique Baklava Table that features drawings of various types of baklava arranged in a style reminiscent of the periodic table. The table showcases the diverse range of baklava flavors available at the restaurant, while also highlighting the scientific precision that goes into creating each pastry.
